Salary: $21.31 - $29.53 Hourly

TopLine Financial Credit Union has been a member-owned financial services cooperative since 1935. We are looking for outgoing individuals to join our Loan Underwriting team that is dedicated to building life-long relationships to help our members reach and manage their financial goals.

 

A successful Loan Underwriter will be able to do:

  •         Underwrites, analyzes, makes credit decisions and performs adverse actions, including moderate complexity of consumer loan, indirect loan, and credit card applications within their assigned authority.
  •         Reviews and certifies applicants’ income on home equity applications, including the low to moderate complex income circumstances.
  •         Reviews loan requests and denials for those that are within established guidelines and underwrites with their assigned authority.  Obtains pertinent information and documentation relative to credit requests, analyzes data for credit worthiness, reviews key underwriting criteria, credit risk tier, reviews collateral valuation, evaluates risk, and follows guidelines and policies to approve, counter-offer or deny requests within assigned lending limits
  •         Provides consistent credit guidance as appropriate to all lending staff.
  •         Provides indirect dealers prompt credit decision responses and informs dealers electronically and verbally on our approvals using a sales approach.
  •         Identifies when lines of credit need to be revoked or reduced based on current credit, income, and other attributable factors discovered in underwriting.  Further, when identified brings to management.
  •         Maintains a thorough knowledge of all TopLine products and recommends financial options for our members with the expectation of obtaining all pertinent financial information to make an informed decision. 
  •         Maintains a thorough knowledge and compliance of policies and procedures of TopLine lending products.
  •         Assists in lending related training and job shadowing of new hires and acts as an ongoing resource for lending staff; remains current in lending practices and trends.
  •         Ability to be flexible and adaptable to support changing demands, work independently with limited supervision, and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner is essential.
  •         Performs other related duties and special projects as required or assigned. 

Qualifications:

  •         Two or more years experience in a high-volume consumer lending environment.
  •         Experience underwriting in consumer, indirect, credit card and home equity lending preferred. 
  •         Understanding of branch operations or equivalent knowledge and/or experience at a financial institution essential.
  •         Possesses a significant level of trust and diplomacy, demonstrating normal courtesy and tact.
  •         Ability to mentor others on lending and in recommending other suitable loan products.
  •         Maintains knowledge of all laws and regulations governing lending.Ability to be flexible, work independently with limited supervision and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner essential.
  •         Ability to work effectively with people in a diverse environment that encompasses regular deadlines, where  change is always possible and flexibility is required.
  •         Acquires and maintains a current knowledge of legal and regulatory areas related to consumer lending.  These may include, but are not limited to: Regs Z, B, E, C, CC, M; Fair Credit Reporting Act; Bank Secrecy Act
  •         Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including clear documentation with individuals and groups 
  •         Good math aptitude essential
  •         Personal computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite essential
  •         Ability to analyze credit applications of moderate complexity of and make sound credit decisions in a timely manner.

Salary Range: $21.31 - $29.53 (hourly)
