Vice President of Information Technology
The Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT) at the credit union is a strategic and visionary leader responsible for the overall management of the credit union's information technology systems, digital banking, and infrastructure. This executive role involves the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT initiatives that align with the credit union's goals and objectives.
The Vice President of Information Technology plays a pivotal role in driving the credit union's technological advancement and ensuring the security and efficiency of its operations. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT and Digital strategy that supports the credit union's mission, vision, and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement within the IT department and throughout the organization.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the IT department, ensuring a high level of performance and providing professional development to team members.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with individuals in a variety of roles throughout the organization.
- Ensure operational excellence through scalable, reliable infrastructure, superior customer service, and efficient operations, measured by top industry metrics and relevant SLAs.
- Ensure the security and protection of the credit union's data and IT systems; implement comprehensive cybersecurity policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a disaster recovery and business continuity plan to ensure the credit union's resilience in the face of IT disruptions.
- Develop and manage the annual IT department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Negotiate vendor contracts and manage vendor performance by building relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Lead and manage credit union projects, including IT projects (digital solutions) from conception to completion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in general IT management,
- 5 or more years successfully leading a team, preferably within the financial services industry.
- In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, software systems, software development, and emerging technologies.
- Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to align IT initiatives with organizational goals.
- Excellent, professional, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record of identifying and resolving complex IT issues, with a focus on delivering practical and scalable solutions.
- Strong understanding of financial principles and budget management within an IT context.
- Familiarity with the regulatory environment and best practices in the financial services sector preferred.
- A deep commitment to enhancing the member experience through innovative digital solutions.
- Must live within a reasonable travel distance (by car) to our network of branches in the state of Minnesota.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of time.
Schedule
- Typical schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. but will vary based on IT demands.
Wage & Hour Details
- Full-time
- Exempt
- Starting pay range: $163,000 - $220,000, pay commensurate with experience
