Mortgage Loan Processor

Remote position

We are looking for a professional, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Mortgage Loan Processor. This remote position will support our loan officers and assist clients through the mortgage process. The successful candidate will primarily focus on reviewing and processing mortgage applications, becoming a subject matter expert in our loan products and services, and providing exceptional customer service to borrowers. This role requires a passion for helping people achieve homeownership, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicates with members in the absence of the loan originator to answer any questions and/or assist with the application process for the member.
  • Collect, validate, and ensure accuracy of member data throughout the loan, underwriting and closing process.

  • Review and update loan data in the system, order government case numbers (FHA, VA, USDA), and clear underwriting conditions for efficient approval.

  • Order and manage services like appraisals, title work, insurance, and other necessary transactions for loan completion.

  • Organize and review closing packages for in-house and secondary market loans, ensuring all conditions are met before and after closing.

  • Resolve post-closing issues, monitor loan documents, and ensure timely submission to investors.

  • Stay updated on mortgage regulations, assist with HMDA reporting, and participate in professional development and community events.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with two years of financial industry experience, preferably in real estate processing or closing, or equivalent experience in mortgage origination/processing.
  • Ability to read credit ratings and compare assets to liabilities.

  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic, including decimals and fractions, and ability to calculate loan repayment.

  • Ability to identify problems, collect data, and analyze facts to draw conclusions.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing loan files.

  • Effective communication skills to inform members about credit union offerings.

Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. flexible

Wage & Hour Details

  • Full-time, 37-40 hours per week
  • Pay is hourly plus incentives

  • Starting pay range: $20.00- $26.00/hr., pay commensurate with experience
